Let’s Talk Hydrafacial (What It Is + Why People Love It)

Hydrafacial is one of those services people hear about all the time, but most don’t really know what it actually is. Some people think it’s just a fancy facial. Some think it’s a trendy machine. And some people ask me if it’s the one where they “suck all the gunk out.” (Yes… but in the best way.)

So let’s talk about what a real Hydrafacial actually is.

A Hydrafacial is a medical-grade facial treatment that deeply cleanses, exfoliates, clears out congestion, and then floods your skin with hydration and targeted ingredients — all in one appointment. It’s not just about relaxing (although it is very relaxing). It’s about skin health and real results.

One of my favorite things about Hydrafacial is that it’s for everyone. You don’t have to have major skin concerns to benefit from it. If your skin feels dull, dry, congested, or just “blah,” it’s amazing. And even if you don’t feel like anything is wrong with your skin, it’s still a great maintenance and self-care service. Hydrafacials are safe for a wide range of ages — from teens dealing with congestion or acne to adults focused on anti-aging, hydration, or just keeping their skin healthy.

Every Hydrafacial I do is customized. Your skin in January is not the same as your skin in July, and your skin today might not be the same as it was last month. We adjust things like the peel strength, boosters, and add-ons based on what your skin actually needs that day.

People sometimes get nervous when they hear “chemical peel,” but a peel done correctly is one of the best things you can do for your skin. It helps with texture, tone, dullness, fine lines, and breakouts by encouraging healthy cell turnover. I offer 7.5%, 15%, and 30%, and the strength we choose depends on your skin, your sensitivity, and your goals. Stronger isn’t always better — the goal is healthy, glowing skin, not irritation.

One of the biggest differences between a Hydrafacial and a traditional facial is how extractions are done. Instead of manual squeezing, the Hydrafacial uses gentle suction to clear out pores while simultaneously infusing hydration back into the skin. It’s effective without being aggressive, and most people love that there’s little to no redness afterward.

We can also customize your Hydrafacial with boosters, which are targeted serums that focus on things like hydration, aging, brightness, or acne. I won’t go too deep into boosters here because that deserves its own post, but just know this is where we really fine-tune your treatment.

I also always include LED light therapy with my Hydrafacials. Depending on your skin, we’ll use red or blue light — red for overall skin health and anti-aging support, and blue for acne and calming inflammation. And during that LED time, you get a 20-minute arm massage that is honestly one of everyone’s favorite parts. It’s one of those things people don’t expect and then end up asking about every time they book again.

Another option we can add is lymphatic drainage for the face, which helps reduce puffiness, support circulation, and give that sculpted, refreshed look. It’s great if you tend to hold fluid in your face or just want that extra “snatched but relaxed” feeling.

If you love super smooth skin and better product absorption, we can also talk about adding dermaplaning. It removes peach fuzz and surface dead skin, which helps makeup lay smoother and skincare work better.

One quick but important thing to know: Hydrafacial and “Hydrofacial” are not the same thing. Hydrafacial is a patented, branded machine and treatment — not a generic water facial and not a machine ordered online. That matters because the technology, tips, and serums are a huge part of why the treatment works the way it does. Your skin is your skin — quality matters.

If you’re looking for something that’s relaxing, effective, customizable, and leaves your skin looking better the same day, Hydrafacial is one of my go-to recommendations.

If it’s something we talk about in the chair, it belongs here.
